And I’ve been thinking about some of the ways we wait in song – Pt 1.

Last night Elisa and I went with some friends to witness the presentation of Handel’s Messiah. Though I have not heard or seen the entire oratorio, I was not surprised at the beauty of the evening. The musicians preformed with power and reverence. The presentation was professional and meaningful. The music was filled with so much movement, it’s hard to believe that the composition was completed by Handel in only 24 days.
What I did not expect was the straightforward lyric pulled straight from the biblical text. Handel’s story through the scriptures is refreshingly pointed. The lyric draws our attention to the prophecies of Christ’s advent and the fulfillment of God’s promises through cross and resurrection.
