How does God reveal His faithfulness by creating space in our lives?

On the first Sunday in over 25 years that I was not employed by a church, my family and I decided to have a worship service in our living room.
I know what you’re thinking.
In my newfound freedom, I could’ve done anything.
I could have gone to the video arcade with a pocketful of quarters to run the place. My family and I could have landed at the county carnival to ride the rickety roller coasters, eat our fill of cotton candy and win an oversized stuffed Bluey.
You know, whatever people normally do when they skip church.
But, instead of doing those things, we had church on the couch.
We sang songs, read scripture, prayed prayers, and even had announcements.
At one point, Halle, our oldest gave a presentation about what it means to take an offering, and concluded by saying that we would, in fact, not be taking one.
Everyone, including myself, was relieved.
Honestly, the whole thing was kind of awesome.
Before I stood up to give the sermon for the day, Jae, who recently got her driver’s permit (and who also served as our host pastor and cafe director) prayed that God would open up our hearts for what God wanted us to hear.
Though this might seem like a typical and even generic request, it was perfect for the moment. Considering my message for the day was titled “God Fills the Space that He Creates,” her prayer was spot on.
I think we pray for God to open up our hearts because we intuitively believe that whatever space, gap, hole or opening that God makes within us, He will be faithful to fill.
This is not only a good prayer, but a great reminder.
