Before the shepherds even touched the dusty ground of the manger they were captivated by a radiant light from heaven.
More brilliant than a glowing billboard on a deserted highway, the Angels lit up the Bethlehem sky with a message that changed everything.
A message of good news and great joy.
A message that a Savior had been born.
The prophet Isaiah declared that this Savior would be a Light for the nations; the One who would bring salvation to the ends of the earth.
The Apostle John described Him as, “The True Light, the One who gives light to everyone”.
The Priest Zechariah prophesied that the Savior would be the Light for those who sit in the shadows of death.
Though the angels arrived in the covering of night, their proclamation would not be lost in darkness. After all, they were messengers of the God who is Light
He is the One who created light to control the day.
The One who’s face would shine upon His people.
The One who’s word’s would illuminate the path of those who followed Him
The One who’s glory would shine around the shepherds in Bethlehem on that storied night.
The angels gave a priceless message of light:
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord… Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
The shepherds, moved by this brilliant truth, went quickly to visit the baby in the manger… they were the first to meet the God who became man, the first to see the Light of the World.
A Light so inviting, so brilliant, so life-changing that we still celebrate His arrival today.
The Light of the world has come and He is here. As we go through this day may the impact of His light leave a shadow behind us.
Merry Christmas.
